Characters of original Unreal

[edit]

There's more than just the characters mentioned in original Unreal. Can we get them more than just a passing reference?--70.240.74.229 (talk) 17:51, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Own research

[edit]

This article has no sources and seems to be full of original research, mainly in the Kai/Tosc section. Despite the section and the article in whole is correct, it contains particular informations that are too exhaustive to occur either in Unreal 2 gameplay, either the game's poor in-universe-related documentation. For example, I know no univocal in-game allusions for that kai find hard to speak voice-based humanoid languages, or for that the izarians are night-living creatures, or araknids are related to any Unreal 1 race (spinners, to be more exact). So "suggestive" statements like these are speculations. The article is full of these. I don't know what's the name of the template that is adequate for this situation, but the article needs it or needs cleanup. Or needs source refs. Additionally, the article contains statements that are simply wrong. For example, New Earth Government wasn't able to make first contact with skaarj, and to search for Vortex Rikers, because it formed only after - what's more, being an effect of - the Human-Skaarj wars (it precedessor was UMS, United Military Services). The commando guy who destroyed the skaarj mothership that was attacking Earth, was of course not P849; as we know it from Unreal Tournament 'GOTY' (Domination: Metal Dream map documentation), it was a NEG marine called 'Farham'. Female nali statues can't be found too often on Na Pali, only a big fresco of a female goddess, Vandora. She has four breasts really, but, being a god, there is no evidence she looks similar to female nalis. Her appearence is very different from nalis' (much more human or angel-alike), so it is more probably that she is a "monster god" (like sphynxes or german mytology's giants in human culture), than that she has been created by the folk to modell female nali appearance. Malcolm is anything but ordinary

[edit]

The person who wrote this article (and it really does look like the work of a single person, giving the glaring lack of citations and uniform writing style) describes Malcolm as an "ordinary human". In the interest of accuracy, I would like to point out that Malcolm's short biography in the original Unreal Tournament describes him as a "chemically enhanced, bio-engineered warrior". predcon (talk) 17:59, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Prisoner 849

[edit]

The protagonist of the first game seems to vary in name and gender, depending on the player's choice. But, my question is this: As far as the developers at Epic Games are concerned, is Prisoner 849 canonically (as in officially) male or canonically female? Just curious, because in this article, the character was formerly described with female pronouns. DJ Autagirl (talk) 18:28, 20 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Game Continuities and Sourcing

[edit]

It has now been confirmed in more than one place that the new Unreal Tournament title (UT4) is a reboot of the series, I think it's important to begin adding detail for different ways characters are presented throughout different titles. It's also important to consider validity of sources over the course of multiple different titles over the course of a decade. This article sources statements by developers not credited in earlier titles of the series. This is much like sourcing the director of the latest Dracula film when discussing Bram Stoker's novel.

Please keep in mind that the amount of editors dedicated to the Unreal series is critically low. The basic info is there but we need more volunteers to cover certain aspects of past and current installments as well as adding details from future press releases. I think you are doing a great job at expanding the article, and while English is not my first language, i can help you by searching for reliable, secondary sources. Wayback Machine is the perfect tool for this job. Hakken (talk) 20:59, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
